Something happened last night that I haven’t allowed to happen in many years. I went to sleep with my mascara on. More importantly, that means I woke up this morning with day-old mascara still on my lashes, therefore I’m suffering a dreaded mascara hangover.
I’m simultaneously repulsed because this feels yucky, but I’m also quite a bit impressed with Tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara that has managed to stay put. My lashes are clumped together along the outer edges because of my 7-hour face-plant into my pillow. However, it’s not smudged like a deliberate smoky eye. (I used a sample of this mascara that had been in my travel case; perhaps I need to check it out more closely.)
Regardless, sleeping with mascara is a big no-no in my facial cleansing routine. I’ll give my eyes a break today: no mascara. My lashes need some pampering, and I think I’ll give them the day off. No “hair of the dog” for these lashes today 😉
Cleansing routine: warm water applied with clean fingertips to loosen any of the mascara. Then a cotton round with a pump of my favorite eye makeup remover gel, swirled gently over my hung-over lashes. This morning’s ritual will call for a reconstitution using Dermalogica products: first, Precleanse then UltraCalming Cleanser.
