Feet off the ground, head in the clouds.  That about sums up what I’ve been feeling since this spring.  My head is full of thoughts. . . some creative and productive, and some not at all self-serving, perhaps destructive, even. So today, against my superstitious nature that whispers “Don’t begin anything new on a Friday. . .” I’m going to do exactly that.  (Side note: I will some day write about all the superstitions my mother passed on to me that were passed on to her, that I’ve managed and vowed not to pass along to my own children.  It’s worth recording just for the historical value).

Most hard-core Southerners I know, do so appreciate the entertainment value of a great story.  That’s my angle now.  At least for a while.  I’m going to tell you stories about all the things I love in my adventures with Beauty, Travel, and that glorious catch-all, Lifestyle.  After all, when I look back over all the things I’ve “blogged” about, what I’m really doing is telling a story about the particulars of a product, a place, or a way of life.

So, I’ll begin with a beauty story, and it reinforces the adage that good things come to those who wait.  I’ve waited quite a while to accumulate these goodies because they’ve been sold out online and in the Sephoras near me.  They are hot commodities in the world of lip wear.  Stila’s Stay-All-Day Liquid Lipstick.  They are extremely matte, very long-wearing, and quite opaque.  All qualities of lip products that I’m currently in love with.  The shade I’m wearing in the photo above is called Baci (nude pink).  I love it because it’s a cool contrast to my currently warm-blonde hair.  My other favorite shades are Caramello (neutral nude), Dolce (nude cinnamon sheen), and Patina (dusty rose).  If you let them set for a minute or two, they will not budge: no lip prints on coffee mugs or champagne flutes.  Just beautiful, fresh color for hours.

Lesson: don’t settle for a lesser product just to have one in your possession; wait for the real deal.  You’ll be much happier in the long run.
