One of the highlights of my summer was a shared job that kick-started my own home-front creativity at a time when I needed it most. My dear friend Kelly Campbell, of Charleston Makeup, asked me to collaborate with her for makeup and hair on a series of videos produced for Charleston’s own Tara Guerard of Soiree.
“Life is a Party” was the theme of Tara’s discussions with some of Charleston’s premier authorities in the field of genteel entertainment. Food, beverage, gardening, fashion, and calligraphy were topics of conversation and hands-on making/doing. In episode three, below, you’ll find the delightful Marty Whaley Adams, of Mrs. Whaley’s Garden, and how she “shops” her (world-famous) backyard garden in order to assemble simple, yet lovely floral and greenery arrangements for her entertaining.
Kelly, you are the epitome of sharing, selflessness, and good will toward fellow artists. We’ve discussed this at length, but I want you to know what this project meant to me, creatively. It was the beginning of one of my best summers ever! I adore you. P
